The Black Panthers and the Black Power Movement
The Black Panthers thought that Martin Luther King Jr.'s peaceful protest were not the way to go. The group believed that violence was the answer and would use violence to get want they wanted. They would carry guns and to protect their own neighborhoods ignoring and not listening to the police. The Black Panthers had four goals they wanted for blacks: equality in education, housing, employment and civil rights. They used violence to get what they wanted not caring who they hurt or if they killed anyone. The original group of Black Panthers were Elbert "Big Man" Howard; Huey P. Newton, Sherman Forte, Bobby Seale, Reggie Forte and Little Bobby Hutton.
