The Brown v. Board of Education decision
1954
The Brown v. Board of Education resulted in the desegregation of public schools. It was a collective case that represented multiple families and states and went to the Supreme Court. The case was named after Linda Brown because she was one of the children being represented in the trial. However this was only one step in the civil rights movement to take out the Jim Crow laws. Other public areas like restaurants remained segregated even after this very controversial decision.
